The Americans with disabilities
Act of 1990 (ADA)
Over 54 million
Americans with physical or mental impairments
that substantially limit daily activities are
protected under the ADA. These activities include
working, walking, talking, seeing, hearing, or
caring for oneself. People who have a record of
such an impairment and those regarded as having
an impairment are also protected.
Basically, a
series of guidelines for leisure goods manufacturers
have been issued and those that adhere to the
guidelines may often quote their position to ADA
in their marketing material.

The Vortex fitness
equipment is an example of being "ADA compliant"
- Their fitness equipment units are ADA compliant
(100% handicapped accessible and user friendly
to them). This allows small business owners the
ability to apply for the ADA tax credit for what
amounts to a 50% refund of what you spend to buy
one (up to$5,000 off you tax bill!). Check with
your tax advisor. That's also a big difference
and a big benefit the Vortex units offer.
